XStream and the Barn
A few weeks ago, we asked for your input about the Barn. Has worshiping together at the barn at harvest Fields been a good experience? Would you be interested in going back out to the Barn this summer? Those of you who responded (thank you, 10-15 of you) indicated that you did grow from your time at the barn, and that it would be worth looking into trying to get back out to the Barn. We appreciate your feedback, and I don’t want you to think that we didn’t take your comments into consideration.

We value your input, and thank God that he has touched your life out at the Barn. We have been praying for ways to connect the youth of the Centre Region, and the Barn was one of the tools that we thought God could/would use to help move the student ministries of the Centre Region toward unity.

As of right now, it looks like XStream would be the only group at the Barn, and unity isn’t unity without other student ministries. There must be ways to bring our local ministries together. If the Barn isn’t the thing (and apparently, it isn’t), then we need to be praying for God to show us how to build good relationships with the other Christian youth in and around State College.

I’m sorry to have to post this, but we aren’t going to be moving out to the Barn this summer. I believe that most of us wanted to do it, but it doesn’t make sense to go out to the Barn just by ourselves. We will continue to meet at Calvary’s building Wednesday nights from 7-8:30.

Check the website for changes, but here’s the summer schedule in brief:

Sunday evenings Spring Creek Park 6-8 volleyball, frisbee, hangout
Wednesday nights Calvary’s building 7-8:30 worship, prayer, teaching, hangout
Small groups ?? ?? relationships, prayer, service
Tuesday pm PSU roller hockey rink9-?? duh, roller hockey
Thursday am Calvary parking lot 9-?? Kayaking in Bellefonte

Senior Recognition at XStream June 18
We're celebrating Calvary's graduates Wednesday, June 18 with a cookout and a blessing service. We had planned to do this June 4th, but that night conflicted with school award ceremonies. So mark your calendars, pray for warm weather, and come ready for hamburgers and hallelujahs! It's graduation time!

So, about last night...
Was anyone surprised to learn that you were created for a Mission? Thanks Abe, for sharing about God's plan for carrying the Good News to our friends. I know that God has been working in my life about that.

Yo—web-heads…we want your help in re-doing our website. Drop Stac or Mike Gess a note if you’re interested. We need you!

Camp Crosstraining (look at Jason's bolnd hair!) registration forms are available tonight. Space will be limited, so get on this quick, like a bunny.

Is God doing something in your life? Really? Send Stac or your Plunge leader an email with your God stories.

Summertime is almost here. Who’s up for this?
Thursday mornings: Kayaking (see below)
Tuesday evenings: Roller Hockey at the PSU outdoor rinks

Who wants to get wet?
We're going to be teaching kayaking to those of you who are interested this summer. Almost every Thursday morning, from 9 til the afternoon, on the Spring Creek in Bellefonte. We will cover all the basics: safety, paddling technique, river reading skills, and much more. Andy Mylin and I are Wilderness First Aid certified, and Andy is CPR trained. Come join us. I can promise, you'll have fun, learn about yourself, and experience the glory of God's creation.

This just in...

Daryl Peters just sent this our way. If you're interested, swing by there tonight.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the extreem late notice, this concert was put together last week and with the holiday weekend we just had I am only getting the news out now.
One of our youth, Ben Eggebeen, and some of his college friends have put together a band called "Better Days Ahead" and will be performing a concert at the E. Free church from 8-9pm tonight. It is free to everybody and I will be presenting the gospel message. Doors open @ 7:30pm. This is the unofficial kickoff for their east coast tour. Please tell your youth group about it and encourage them to come and invite their friends. We are hoping to see God move in huge ways tonight!!! Any questions give me a call!!!

Camp Crosstraining 2003
We're headed to Jumonville (near Uniontown, PA, sort of near Pittsburgh) June 22-27 for a great week of camp. There will be loads to do--from great teaching and worship (which we're learning to expect!), to adventure (ropes course, rock climbing, whitewater), to the renovated pool, volleyball, hoops, and hanging out and getting to know other students better. There will be some great surprises this year, and probably the Mother of all Water Battles!

God moves when we give him time and space, and that's probably the best reason I can give you for attending camp. The cost is $250, and that covers all the bases (other than your spending money.) You can pick up a registration/permission form from Stac.

Plus, you'll get to hang out with my best friend. That's Pastor Randy to the right there. He's my brother in law, and I'm not ashamed to admit it!

If you have questions, drop Stac a line. I'd love to tell you about how we've seen God move. There is limited scholarship money available, and we're going to be doing some fundraising!

Thursday, May 22, 2003

You are invited to a Senior Celebration, presented by our very own Jason Miller. Jason, a musical phenom, will be playing piano selections from Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Haydn, and John Williams. Mark your calendar now to come hear Jason Saturday, June 7, 3 pm at Calvary Baptist Church.

New photos are coming soon, I promise! Hang in there. Be patient. Would you like to help in the re-design of the website? Let us know. Send Stac an email and we'll hook you up.

I need some feedback: Should we do the Barn again this summer? It's time to be thinking about what's next. Would you want to get together with students from other groups weekly? Is it worth the effort to do the Barn, or is it a waste of time? What has God done in your life through the time we've spent out at Harvest Fields each summer? Drop me a line and let me know: Stac wants some feedback.

The battle is not mine, but it belongs to the Lord
Jessica Allen, a student at PSU, will be administering student surveys this Wednesday (May 14th) at 3:30 to students who have submitted permission forms. Ms. Allen is working on a study to determine how Christian students cope with stress. If you are interested in participating in the survey, you may contact Jessica.

You were formed for God’s Family

So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.
Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever--be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way. Colossians 3:12-17 (The Message)

Thanks to Amanda, Melinda, and Kim for preparing and sharing this week. One of the main goals at XStream is to help you build solid relationships with other believers. Our hope is that you will make a few key connections that will push you toward God. We need each other. God created us with a need for true community. We believe that XStream can be that kind of place, a place where trust is fostered, where people can love an be loved unconditionally, where real sharing can take place. Are you in? What will you do to help us get there?
