Ignite the Night

Metro Worship tonight was a good experience for me. Thanks to those of you who helped set up, and to those who joined us in worship. We certainly have a lot of reasons to give thanks. I'll try to post the pics later.

Mike Yaconelli, founder of Youth Specialties and pastor, passes away
Here's an interesting quote from an interview about Mike's new book, Messy Spirituality:
Do you know why I wrote this book? Because there’s a whole lot of people who are so freaking busy, they’re so cluttered, their life—they’re at their wits’ end. And if they’d only just stop for a minute, they could hear the God of the universe whisper to them, I love you.
Mike Yaconelli DS Interview July 1st, 2002
Mike Yaconelli was a truth-teller. He was not afraid to point out what was wrong with the church, and always followed with ideas to right the wrongs. His writing was full of emotion, the stuff that life is made of. Mike was a passionate follower of God, who readily admitted that he had more questions than answers, but was always quick to point us to Jesus. He will be missed.
