A Couple of Nuggets from God
I have been using Pray As You Go for a while now as part of my daily time with the Lord. As I work through this finger injury, I've been amazed to see points of intersection with PAYG. I know that God sees all things, and that he speaks through his word, but it's been fun to see what the Lord is going to say each new day. I find myself excited to come to God's Word.
I've been asking myself this question each day:
What kind of man do I want to be today?PAYG included this quote from an unnamed medieval mystic:
Not what you are, nor what you have been, but what you want to be is what God sees with merciful eyes.I believe the accurate quote and more info are here, but the thought is the same.
They didn't reference it, but I believe that's what is at the heart of Psalm 37:4, where the psalmists writes:
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.O God, let me be the man I want to be. Strengthen me, help me, fill me with your Spirit...

I didn't even know abotu PAYG.
I really like the site.
did you listen to the breathing exercise? Halfway through I thought, "This is kind of like yoga." then the guy's voice says, "this isn't yoga; just breathe!"
it was great!
I haven't listened to the breathing part in a while, but i do remember (with conservative church ears) thinking that yoga-ish stuff made me uncomfortable. I've encountered more wholistic prayer exercises recently, and I believe that I can grow in this area. It's easy to forget that Christianity is actually an eastern religion...
